Learn Hospitality from the Swiss

Our Mission "Come as a student, leave as a manager"

If you are considering a successful career in the hotel and tourism industry, then HTMi can help you achieve your ambition.

HTMi the School of International Hotel & Tourism Management is located in Soerenberg in Kanton Luzern. It is one of Switzerland’s most beautiful and picturesque resorts. Students come from all over the world to study hotel management, the famous Swiss way.

Soerenberg is famous for its pleasant climate, safe and beautiful location and easy access to Italy, Austria, Germany and France. In winter (December-March), Soerenberg is renowned for its excellent winter sport activities, especially skiing.

Says Mr. Ian Larmour, Managing Director HTMi, “Over the next decade, the international hotel and tourism industry is forecast to maintain its position as the worlds largest employer of people, and largest provider of management positions. We are in a truly international industry, which demands an international mix of managers, to reflect the international nature of our hotels. HTMi's role is to prepare students for a management career in this, the most exciting industry today.”

HTMi offers its students’ a globally recognized 2.5 years Higher Diploma and a 1 year Postgraduate Diploma in International Hotel & Tourism Management and also in the field of Culinary Management as a specialization course. The Bachelors Degree (6 months) or Masters Degree (1 year) can also be completed on-campus and are awarded by the University of Ulster UK and the Queen Margaret University UK respectively. HTMi is accredited by the Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education (CHRIE), Hotel and Catering Institutional Management Association (HCIMA) and by the British Accreditation Council (BAC). HTMi is also amongst the few hospitality institutions in Switzerland which enjoy certification from EDUQUA, a leading Swiss Government accreditation body which recognizes its high quality standards.

“Our students learn a rich portfolio of skills in Service, Bar, Kitchen, Housekeeping, Front Office, Management Teamwork and Personal Development skills. Our experience confirms that this develops a strong professional attitude in students that is valued by future employers.”

As an integral part of training, HTMi’s students are required to complete Paid Work Placement Training in hotels, restaurants or other suitable organizations. This is arranged and monitored by dedicated HTMi staff. Students must complete five months of Work Placement during each academic year and are paid a gross salary of 2,075 Swiss Francs per month. One of the key benefits to our students is the ability to practice and improve their professional behaviour skills.

HTMi’s campus consists of two typical Swiss hotels overlooking a beautiful landscape of mountains and valleys. Students have access to world-class facilities on-campus like basketball; fitness center and recreational facilities like satellite TV, cinema room, student lounge, ping pong, billiards, wireless internet throughout the campus and much more. There is also a large indoor swimming pool and sauna which is available to HTMi students at no extra cost. At weekends students can go to Luzern or Bern for shopping, entertainment, or simply enjoy the beautiful mesmerizing environment of Soerenberg, an area protected by UNESCO, because of its natural beauty.

Prof Robert Larmour, Academic Advisor to HTMi and Professor Emeritus in International Hospitality and Tourism Management said : “Our faculty has many years of experience in developing courses which are up to date with the needs of the International Hotel and Tourism Market in view. Students find our courses challenging and a valuable asset for their future. Our aim is to build a lifelong partnership with our students and graduates, and our international placement service with leading international hotel companies is one very important part in realizing this. Young people will definitely enjoy and benefit from their training and overall learning experience at HTMi.”

HTMi welcomes applications from ambitious students interested in an innovative curriculum and a serious academic challenge, which will prepare them for a dynamic career.
